Where can I recycle my plastic or paper fibre plant pots and trays? (With Bonus Video)

Warning message

Some recycling and solid waste facilities are temporarily closed, operating with reduced hours, or accepting a limited range of materials – please call ahead. Consider delaying your visit to facilities unless absolutely necessary by storing dry recyclables and other items at home temporarily.

Plastic and paper-fibre pots and trays, including those for seedlings, vegetable plants, and bedding plants are included in a province-wide recycling program managed by Recycle BC. Many residents who recieve curbside recycling collection through their city or municipality can put these containers into their household recycling, provided that they are free of soil or plant material, and are no larger than 25 litres. Residents who do not fall under this jurisdiction can also take these pots and trays to a local recycling depot for free drop-off.

To find a list of local depots that accept plant pots for recycling, contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline.
