Product Care Recycling operates over 200 depots throughout BC that accept leftover household paint for recycling. Each depot accepts 10 cans of paint per person, per day, provided that the paint is residential, in its original container with the original labeling, and is not leaking. Paint containers up to 23 litres (5 gallons) are accepted. This program also includes residential grade varnishes, wood preservatives, non-tar based sealers, and many more. For a complete list of accepted products, visit the Product Care website. For paint that does not meet the above requirements, call the RCBC Recycling Hotline for disposal options. This Provincial recycling program is funded through eco-fees that are paid on these products at the point of purchase. The fees pay for the transportation, storage, and processing of these products and ensure that the paint is free to drop off for recycling.
Visit RCBC’s Recyclepedia for drop-off options or contact the RCBC Recycling Hotline for all options available in your community.
