Is there a deposit on drink boxes?

Warning message

Some recycling and solid waste facilities are temporarily closed, operating with reduced hours, or accepting a limited range of materials – please call ahead. Consider delaying your visit to facilities unless absolutely necessary by storing dry recyclables and other items at home temporarily.

Yes. Drink boxes, pouches and gable top containers that contain juice were added to the deposit/refund program in 1999. The deposit program now includes all ready-to-drink beverages, with the exception of infant formula, meal replacements, milk or other milk-substitutes. For more information about the recycling program or to find a participating bottle depot, call the RCBC Recycling Hotline or visit the RCBC Recyclepedia or Return-It website.
