How can we imagine the future of EPR in BC?
BC’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system is a well-established and successful model of product stewardship. Crucial to that success is that it has evolved over time to add new materials, expand product definitions to capture a broader range of products, and divert more from landfills. In October 2025, new amendments to BC’s Recycling Regulation further expanded the materials mandated for inclusion in this system – so now what? How does infrastructure adapt to manage new, difficult to manage materials? How do existing, established programs integrate them? How are these changes communicated to the public to drive recovery?
Join us for Exploring the Future of EPR in BC: From Regulation to Reality – a conversation exploring how BC’s EPR recycling programs change, adapt, and evolve to capture more material and drive diversion. We’ll hear from fixtures of BC’s EPR ecosystem to build understanding, and take time to engage and imagine what the future of EPR in BC might look like.
