Where can I drop off out-dated or leftover medicine?

Warning message

Some recycling and solid waste facilities are temporarily closed, operating with reduced hours, or accepting a limited range of materials – please call ahead. Consider delaying your visit to facilities unless absolutely necessary by storing dry recyclables and other items at home temporarily.

Over 90% of pharmacies in BC participate in the Medications Return Program, a take-back system for old prescription and non-prescription medicine.  Participating pharmacies collect expired, unused and unwanted medications from the public for safe disposal. The program includes prescription and non-prescription medications, natural health products, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal creams, inhalers, and patches. The Medications Return Program is administered by the Health Products Stewardship Association on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry.

Call the RCBC Recycling Hotline or visit the Medications Return Program website to find a drop-off location near you.
