A Message from Brock Macdonald, RCBC CEO:

We at RCBC hope you are all keeping safe and well in this difficult time. While it was our hope that we could still hold our annual conference at some point in 2020, according to information from BC’s Ministry of Health, that is no longer the case. BC’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has not yet officially extended her written order banning events of 50 or more people past the original May 30 date. However, she has made a number of public statements within the last few days that have all but assured that large events, such as the RCBC 2020 conference, will not happen through the summer and may not occur until some point next year.

Once the written order is officially extended by the province of BC, RCBC will provide conference-related refunds upon request. A number of organizations have offered to donate already committed sponsorships and registration funds to assist RCBC through this challenging year. If your organization is in a position to do that as well, we can provide a tax-deductible receipt for your generosity.

As an alternative to in-person gatherings, your Council is planning remote programming in the form of webinars and podcasts to keep you informed. RCBC also plans to hold both its AGM and awards ceremony remotely around the time our original conference was scheduled. Details will be announced once those dates are finalized. We hope you will be able to join.

In the meantime, thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented public health emergency. If there is anything we can do to assist you through our integrated public information services and communications network, you can let us know directly by contacting RCBC Policy & Communications Director Harvinder Aujala at harv(at)rcbc.ca  Please stay safe and well. Remember, we may be apart, but we are all in this together.
